Stay in a castle in Auvergne

Monique and Alain welcome you to Domaine de Gaudon. This full bourgeois Castle charm of the late 19th century, rated 5 stars by Gîtes de France, now the red Michelin guide, offers 5 guest rooms including 1 family, furnished and decorated with taste, as well as a wellness area.
Located in the department of Puy-de-Dôme, in the park Livradois Forest, near Clermont-Ferrand, Ambert, Thiers and Issoire, its rolling landscapes are typical of the "Tuscany of Auvergne" name given by Catherine de Medici this charming region.
The property benefits from a 4-hectare park and an exceptional view on the chain of volcanoes of Auvergne. A botanical path to discover Arboretum, Bird Observatory, the ponds and the fishing pond. You will discover ancient trees, and a beautiful collection of trees and shrubs acidophilus.
Origin of property (Gourbeyre of Nouara)
This house was owned by the family of Gourbeyre Nouara, whose ancestors were renowned stationers in Ambert area, what they earned to be ennobled by François 1er. In 2000, we converted into guest room.
    Include the legend of Gourbeyre:
St. Louis on his return from the 7th Crusade (1248-1252) would have brought Oriental Syrian stationer named Gour-bey, which would come GOURBEYRE. The king went to Puy in 1254 and followed the Syrian. After reviewing many rivers, he stopped at the stream laga. As the cleaner to wash the paper and he moved to Nouara, in the next valley. The three cross would come afterwards
